Some Nuances of Custom Headers

Custom HTML.  If you choose to write your own HTML code for the Custom Header, use well formed and self contained HTML.   IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL, YOU CAN DRAMATICALLY AFFECT YOUR WEB PAGE.

Need to Reimport.  The Custom Header page does NOT “remember” the page that was imported.  So, if you make changes to your underlying HTML page, you must reimport the HTML to make the changes effective.   This is different from the Mirror block which does remember its source.

EZ-Audio.  The EZ-Audio does not work in the Custom Header.  This feature of EZ-NetTools is being phased out.  If you want sound to be part of header, we encourage you to use something like our free audio player.  Click here for more details.

Security Issues in EZ-CheckOut.  If you configure a Customer Header, you should not configure EZ-Checkout to use the Global Header information.  If you do, there will be a security warnings to shoppers using some browsers.  By default, EZ-Checkout does not use the Global Header.  Instead of using the Custom Header in the EZ-Checkout, we suggest you should use the graphic for the upper left corner of the checkout pages.  The next time we update EZ-Checkout we will try to resolve this problem.

Shopping Cart Block.  The Shopping Cart Block from EZ-PageBuilder will not function in the Custom Header.  You can put links to the shopping cart and other catalog function in the Header.

EZ-PhotoAlbum.  For some reason the Custom Header does not render correctly in EZ-Photo Album.  Sometimes, the background image will show through between blocks.  This problem can be reduced by putting the blocks into a LayoutManager block with either its own background color or background image.  The next time we make some updates to EZ-PhotoAlbum, we will investigate this further.

Browser Incompatibilities.  Some versions of some browsers render the Custom Header slightly differently.

Use Wisdom.  EZ-Pagebuilder pages are designed to fit within the width you have specified in the Global Information section.  You can violate the width limits by putting in graphics larger than that size.   If you do this in a normal page the affect is limited.  However, that problem in a Global Header will be replicated onto every page on your web site.  To avoid this problem, determine you overall page parameters and this design within them.
