Has anyone figured out how to successfully use CSS with the tools? I want to learn how to implement it better.

Sure, put your selectors in the Head box of the page and put your css code in an html block or within a text box.

Works fine however review your CSS and Doctype thread. Depending on what you're trying to accomplish without a valid doctype you may not get the desired results. For the most part it works fine, though.
