The use of FTP on a system makes it very vulnerable to attacks from hackers. When a hacker sees that a system is equipped with FTP access it becomes their first target. It is like a front door with no locks for them. The reason they love it so much is because it is easy to break into and it allows them to do anything. They can delete or change any information they want to. They can also see any information they want to see, including credit cards, addresses, phone numbers or any other data they find. Anyone doing research into the security problems with FTP will discover that the Internet is filled with documented problems FTP can cause to a system. Once a hacker has gained access to a system through FTP it is a very expensive and time-consuming to fix the problem.
